Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is an Indian actress, who gained recognition for her performance in the film Hum Aapke Hin Koun and Beta Saajan. Her career began in the 1980s and came to popularity with her role in Tezaab, a film where she starred with the veteran actor Anil Kapoor. In the following film, she was a part of Aamir on Dil. Her birthplace was in the Mumbai middle-class family and began to dance in her early years. While still a teenager she tried her hand at acting, but most of those early films failed. Her fame grew and she became one of India's leading movie actresses. After her wedding, she took a brief absence from acting before returning. In the last few years, Dixit played a significant role as a character in Gulaab Gang a movie about the struggles of women in India. Dixit has received 15 Filmfare Awards nominations, of which she took home eight. Padma Shri - the fourth most highly regarded civilian award in India is awarded to Dixit. The award was also given to her for her efforts in the field of social work.
